Picnic is generally ridden in a counter clockwise direction, riding the lower (close to the creek) portion first and then back on the upper portion. Riders that do not want to ride Basket Drop should take the first RIGHT after the first very short climb at the beginning of Picnic. Those that do want to ride Basket, should continue on the upper portion and stay straight when they see the path to the left. Immediately after Basket the trail converges with the easier entrance and you can continue left to the west towards the west end of Lower Picnic.
About half way there is an intersection for riders to go right to continue along Lower Picnic or go left to take Upper Picnic which goes back to the beginning of Lower Picnic. At this intersection users also have the option of riding Big Ravine, a feature that drops into a ravine with a couple of g-outs and small wall berm.
Users that go left will be on Upper Picnic an intermediate section, intermediate mainly for the 2 drops, these drops are optional and they lead to the Lower Picnic line. Upper Picnic is designated as a ONE WAY trail and the direction is West to East.
The west end of Picnic contains the "Beer Drops" which again are completely optional and have progressive drops, small, medium and large. This drops, like Upper Picnic are ridden West to East, so these drops are pass on your left as you ride Lower Picnic and you would loop back to take them or approach when starting from the west end of Lower Picnic.
Lower Picnic's west end intesects with Double Down (Advance Trail) and the BCRT (Brushy Creek Regional Trail) after going under the walking bridge. It's punctuated by optional "wall rides" or a small ledge feature.
